June 16, 2008 - The Board of Directors of the Tantasqua Education Foundation is pleased to announce the second major donation from Southbridge Savings Bank. Southbridge Savings Bank’s generous support of a $5000 donation, renewable annually over three years, helped to launch the Foundation in 2007.
The community-based foundation assists students and teachers in the five area towns of Brimfield, Brookfield, Holland, Sturbridge and Wales to explore creative new projects that support and extend the reach of the school core curriculum into the community. The programs help excite students about the process of learning and advance them on the path a 21st century education demands.
“The Board of Trustees and I are happy to continue to help this educational organization pursue its goals of providing a broad range of innovative projects for teachers and students in the local community,” the bank’s president and CEO, Phil Pettinelli, said on offering Southbridge Savings’ donation. “Our bank is committed to helping increase the vitality of our area economically and culturally, and a strong education is always the base for expanding opportunity.”
Superintendent Daniel Durgin said, “I continue to be amazed with the continued support for the Ted Foundation from our five communities including the very generous donation of five thousand dollars for the second year from the Southbridge Savings Bank.”
