Southbridge Savings Bank Committed to Community and Preservation
Donation to Assist in Maintaining Historical Rider Tavern
From left Charlton Historical Society Members Donald Weinhardt and Aimee Newell receive
check from Southbridge Savings Bank Director of Sales & Marketing, Joseph Sandagato, III
June 2005-The Charlton community is fortunate to have so many dedicated to the preservation of
the town’s history. The Rider Tavern is the center of historical information for the town and
is used regularly to host events. The building is currently being renovated in anticipation of
Charlton’s 250th Anniversary events in the fall.
Southbridge Savings Bank has operated a branch office in Charlton since 1976, and has been in
continuous operation since 1848. "Our ties to the local community are very strong, as is our
dedication to supporting the efforts of groups such as the Charlton Historical Society",
commented Joseph Sandagato, Director of Sales and Marketing. "Our own history, over 157 years in
the making, has deep ties to Charlton and the surrounding communities. We are proud to support
such worthwhile causes."
The $250 donation from Southbridge Savings Bank will be used to assist with the repairing and
painting of the building. Providing a stable environment for the archives and historical artifacts
allows the historical society to continue to provide the public access to the resources available.
